The Annual Review of Psychotherapy and Mental Health - BOOK SERIES

The Annual Review of Psychotherapy and Mental Health will be published each year by the Nova Science (New-York, USA).
The book will be published in September of each year (or on a periodical basis) and it will critically examine publications, both books and journal articles, in the clinical field, published one year before; using professional standards, the book will present and discuss the best and the worst ten publications in the clinical field, thus contributing to the dissemination of high standards for research, training, and practice in the clinical field. The chapters will be written by influential professionals.
The criteria used to evaluate the quality of works are (for details see Sternberg & Gordeeva, 1996; Sternberg, 2003):
Quality of presentation
the problem is clearly stated and well-conceptualized
well-written, well-structured, and well-organized
tone is unbiased and impartial
Theoretical significance
presents a useful new theory or theoretical framework
integrates many different areas of data previously thought to be unrelated or poorly explained
integrates into a new, simpler framework data that had previously required a complex and possibly unwieldy framework
debunks an existing theory or way of thinking
contains useful recommendations for changes in accepted theoretical constructs
makes on obvious contribution to psychological knowledge, adding something new and/or substantial
Practical significance
contains useful implications for professional practice
includes concrete examples
Substantive interest
topic is interesting and important
appears at right moment, when people are ready to hear the message
Methodological interest
presents a clever paradigm or experimental manipulation
presents a new and useful test or psychological and/or methodological technique
contains some surprising results that make sense in some theoretical context
demonstrates a useful paradigm
Values for future research
contains useful recommendations for further research or for changing research methodology
contains useful implications for a scholarly understanding of the field
contains useful implications for future research studies
