Research in psychotherapy, psychopathology, and health promotion is organized by the Division of Research of the International Institute, composed of the following permanent members:

• Dr. Oana Benga (Associate professor at the Babes-Bolyai University, Department of Psychology);
• Dr. Daniel David (Associate Professor at the Babes-Bolyai University, Department of Psychology);
• Dr. Adrian Opre (Associate professor at the Babes-Bolyai University, Department of Psychology);
• Eva Kallay, MA (Babes-Bolyai University, Department of Psychology);
• Bianca Macavei, MA (Babes-Bolyai University, Department of Psychology);
• Aurora Szentagotai, MA (Assistant professor at the Babes-Bolyai University, Department of Psychology). 

They are all trained in cognitive-behavioral therapies, and in advanced research methodology by completing postgraduate studies organized by the Babes-Bolyai University Department of Psychology. They have all published in national and international journals. The coordinator of the Division is Dr. Daniel David.

At present, we have three ongoing grants (Dr. Daniel David, Principal Investigator):

• 1. National (Romanian) Council for Research-Ministry of Education: Psychotherapy versus medication in the treatment of major depressive disorder; A multisite randomized clinical trial (2004-2007);
• 2. Albert Ellis Institute, New-York, USA: REBT versus medication in the treatment of major depressive disorder (2003-2005);
• 3. Albert Ellis Institute, New-York, USA: Rational-Emotive & Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy in the context of cognitive science; An integrative research program (2003-2004).

To date, we have organized

• (1) two international symposia as part of the Congress of the European Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (Maastricht, Netherlands, 2002);
• and (2) a special issue of the Journal of Clinical Psychology (David, 2004),

both promoting our point of view, research, and practice in evidence-based psychotherapy.
